Development Bank of the Philippines Scholarship

A pleasing news for all the scholarship seekers, state-owned Development Bank of the Philippines (DPB) is set to launch it’s 4th batch of Resources for Inclusive and Sustainable Education (RISE) scholarship program under the bank’s flagship corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiative.

According to DBP president and chief executive officer Emmanuel Herbosa, the 4th year of implementation of DBP RISE serves as a renewal of commitment of DBP with the education sector as it continues to evolve and adapt to the challenges posed by the pandemic and a changing socio-economic environment.

What is RISE scholarship program?

RISE scholarship program is the primary CSR education program of the DBP, founded in 2018 with a five-year fundraising plan. It has a total investment of P500 million.

DPB RISE serves as the bank’s tangible contribution to the government’s collective efforts to develop a corps of qualified professionals and skilled workers who can meet the demands of progressing labor market, said Dante Liban, DBP director and head of the bank’s board-level Development  Advocacy Committee.

Who are covered in the RISE scholarship program?

The program grants financial assistance to scholars enrolled in the following courses:

  1. Engineering
  2. Architecture
  3. Real estate management
  4. Accountancy
  5. Education
  6. Sciences
  7. Agriculture and forestry
  8. Allied medical courses
  9. Maritime
  10. Hospitality
  11. Information technology
  12. Technical vocational courses

Further, it will help 510 deserving students from underprivileged Filipino families who want to pursue tertiary education in 10 DBP-accredited partner Higher Educational Institutions (HEIs).

What are the private DBP-accredited partner Higher Educational Institutions (HEIs)?

There are four private HEIs and six state colleges and universities the DBP has accredited, which will evaluate prospective scholars for the program including:

  1. Asian Institute of Maritime Studies
  2. Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila
  3. St. Dominic College of Asia, Cavite
  4. STI Colleges Inc.
  5. Technological University of the Philippines, Visayas
  6. University of Cebu
  7. West Visayas State University, Iloilo
  8. Mindanao State University, Marawi City
  9. Mindanao State University, General Santos City
  10. University of Science and Technology of Southern Philippines

What are the benefits of RISE scholarship program?

The partner schools will provide the scholars the following privileges:

  1. Whole tuition
  2. Student support fund to cover other costs like apprenticeship
  3. Residency training
  4. Review courses
  5. Food and lodging
  6. Miscellaneous school materials
